Looked for a Cat, Found a Frog

A couple of days ago, I spotted this green caterpillar nicely camouflaged as it munched away on an arrowwood (Viburnum dentatum) leaf.

Unknown caterpillar snacks on arrowwood (Viburnum dentatum 'Chicago Lustre') leaf

So this morning, I thought I would take another look at the shrub to see if I could spot the caterpillar again.

Couldn't find it, but I did discover this little fella looking quite at home on a leafy perch!

I think this might be a young eastern gray treefrog, but I'm no herpetologist!

I was so happy to see a frog in my garden for the first time ever! :)

Hello Aaron, I haven’t been here for a while – too many blogs to visit, too little time! I got to the end of your post and then I was a bit puzzled and had to scroll up and read again as I couldn’t find the cat from the title :-)
You are lucky to find a frog in your garden, do you have a pond perhaps? Or maybe one of your neighbours have?

Yep, that cat(erpillar) was very well camouflaged!

I do feel I was very lucky to find the frog. We don't have a pond. In fact we're on a hilltop. And as far as I know, none of our neighbors have a pond. And it's been quite dry here lately (except for one day of rain this past Saturday). So it's really a mystery how the frog ended up here, but I'm happy about it in any case. It's a small tree frog. Maybe it gets most of its necessary moisture from dew?
Cool frog. I never see them in my garden.

Well, it took me more than 5 years to find one in my garden. Perhaps you'll find one in your garden someday! :)
He is so tiny! I have seen a number of tree frogs this year, more than ever. I almost stepped on one this weekend!

I know! Tiny and adorable :)

Yikes. I would have been heartbroken if I'd stepped on a frog.

There do seem to be quite a few creatures underfoot this year - but mostly spiders, crickets, beetles and centipedes, in my case.
